Little Miss Sunshine
A bittersweet tale about a family finding happinness in what seems to be endless suffering. I really enjoyed the relationship between Paul Dano and Steve Carell, whom portrayed someone I could never see portraying; a not very funny character. He killed did though, and so did Paul Dano, despite having like 2 lines in the entire movie. He is really good at being an angsty teenager.
A note about the grandpa: I was so ready for bodies to have been mixed up at the hospital and for the grandpa to not be dead, but I was pleasantly surprised, this felt so much better. The anticipation came from me feeling like we barely knew the character so it would’ve been a little anticlimactic to kill him off. But this is how life works, you don’t get to decide when you die, and even though he did die, he was still there for the journey.
Speaking of the journey, I liked it way better than the super american ending, that’s where the juice of the movie lies, that’s where the bonds are made, but I must say that the little family dance at the end was pretty cute.
